Hi Molly! I appreciated all the resources you included in your post about inquiry learning this week – it is evident to me that your are passionate about this delivery method. I also love the foundation and rationale behind inquiry – routed in knowing and empowerment. I feel that schools too often try to make learning efficient which is not beneficial in the long run; one of my goals as a teacher is to foster a strong motivation to learn and be curious, and inquiry definitely supports this by giving students ownership over their own ideas and questions. I think it can be hard to first imagine inquiry in action in a classroom – but the way you have touched on scaffolding and releasing responsibility perfectly addresses this concern; its not something that just “happens,” it has to be carefully and strategically planned. Thank you!
